That Britney Spears would pose topless is hardly surprsing. The star is famous for being very explicit and public about her sexuality and sexual appeal. I think however, it raises a question about gender, equality and and empowerment. Can a woman expose her breasts while pretending to be a stripper and still be an empowered woman? This is the issue Spears raises.
Here is the information according to The New York Post:
Topless pictures of the pop tart emerged yesterday, showing her flashing her boobs while shooting the music video for her 2007 hit "Gimme More."
A brunette Spears pole-dances in a strip-club setting during the video, while a blond Britney enjoys the show from the bar.
At points in the four-minute spot, she merely appears to be topless.
But these photos clearly show Spears' greatest hits, which were adorned with temporary tattoos.
Playing a topless stripper would seem to indicate that Spears is expresses herself as a male fantasy and pure sex-object ... and thus contributing to demeaning women.
Some, however, contend that a woman can perform a striptease and still be empowered. This is an interesting question to consider.
